Partnering

Overview

Santhera is leveraging its expertise in the field of neuromuscular diseases and movement disorders to build a well balanced portfolio of products. The company's partnering objectives are to:

  • In-license or acquire attractive compounds within its area of therapeutic expertise, preferably with proof-of-concept in man
  • In-license or acquire new technologies and product concepts with the potential to significantly modify disease progress
  • Out-license programs for territories out-side North America

In-licensing / acquisition of products for the North American market

Following the successful launch of its first product, Catena® for Friedreich`s Ataxia in Canada, Santhera is seeking in-licensing or acquisition opportunities of additional late-stage or marketed products for orphan or ultra-orphan neuromuscular diseases or movement disorders in the USA and/or Canada.
Santhera can offer:

  • An established team of commercial professionals with office functions based in the Boston area and in Montreal
  • Proven marketing, medical and regulatory access expertise through the successful launch of Catena®
  • Extensive knowledge of the payer landscape in North America and experience with specialist distribution models

In-licensing / acquisition of development programs and new technologies

To complement its own in-house development programs, Santhera is seeking to further leverage the expertise and experience of its preclinical and clinical development teams by acquiring and driving forward new product opportunities.
Santhera actively seeks:

  • Quality development candidates from pre - IND filing up to Phase III in orphan or ultra-orphan neuromuscular diseases and movement disorders
  • North American rights required, worldwide rights preferred

Santhera is also interested in new disease modifying technologies with the potential to significantly improve the quality of life of patients. Technologies may, in addition to small molecules, include gene therapy, oligonucleotides, stem cells, proteins or other inventions.

    Out-licensing

Santhera’s commercial strategy is to market products in orphan indications in the US and Canada, and to partner such products outside these territories.
Products for larger markets will be partnered globally while keeping co-marketing or co-promotion rights in such indications for the US and Canadian markets.
In line with this strategy Santhera has already:

    • Out-licensed the exclusive marketing rights for Sovrima/Catena® in Friedreich's Ataxia and Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in the European Union and Switzerland to Takeda
    • Out-licensed the development and marketing rights for fipamezole in Dyskinesia in Parkinson’s Disease in the US and Canada to Biovail, retaining co-promotion rights
